Rural House Sara

After a well thought out renovation, which allowed for a better use of space, the property has a very comfortable feel to it. It consists of a double bedroom and the living-dining room which communicates with the kitchen through a door with a shutter and the bathroom. We would like to highlight the atmosphere recreated in the kitchen, where we find an old stone mill, the traditional oven and a watering hole that invites us to quench our thirst with its fresh water. The terraces have also participated in this transformation creating new corners as is the case of the porch that is housed on one side of the house Casa Sara, with its stone walls and located in a quiet place, can be an attractive option to be in contact with nature.

From it we can see how the clouds slide down the green slopes of the northern side of the island and the blue sea in the background.

The chroniclers already described it as the seventh kingdom of the island under the name of Tenagua. The town stretches from sea to summit in a triangle of fertile land blessed by the trade winds that carry the clouds, feeding the important aquifer that provides the water in numerous fountains and springs that its inhabitants boast.

Between the Barranco de La Galga ravine and the Barranco Seco ravine lie the estates of La Galga, El Granel, San Juan de Puntallana, Santa Lucía and Tenagua. Nine mountains stand out in a landscape of recognised botanical value; its laurel forest formations (a plant redoubt from the Tertiary Era) surround the lives of its inhabitants, who for generations have known how to live off the fruits provided by the land.

Cereal was the most cultivated agricultural product; through its ports and prois (the name given to the stone used on land to moor boats) numerous shipments of wheat and wood left for other islands. The economic development of the municipality has always depended on periods of bad harvests and famine, causing a flow of emigrants to Cuba and Venezuela in search of new horizons. Currently, fruit trees, vegetables, vines and especially bananas are satisfying the new production markets. Another economic alternative is the modest offer of rural tourism, which is gradually making headway.
